Jal Jhulni Ekadashi Puja
Devotees perform Jal Jhulni Ekadasi Puja with flowers, incense, earthen lamp, rice and many more. This fast goes on for more than one day. On the first day, devotees establish seven earthen urns. These urns are further filled with seven different cereals, one in each of the seven. The seven cereals are wheat, gram, barley, rice, Urad, Moong and Masoor. Exactly a day before Ekadashi that is Dashami (Tenth Day), devotees dont eat any of these seven cereals.
Lets come back again to the eleventh day. On the seven cereals filled urns, idols of Lord Vishnu is placed. After that Lord is worshipped by the devotees. After the fast of Ekadashi (Eleventh Day) is over, devotees perform the all night vigil (Jagaran) of Vishnu Path. The fast of Padma Ekadashi begins from Dashami (Tenth Day) and concludes on Dwadashi (Twelfth Day). Hence, the fast of Padma Ekadashi goes through a longer time span than other fasts. The fast is observed throughout the entire day of Ekadashi (Eleventh Day). After the eleventh day (Ekadashi) that is on twelfth day (Dwadashi), devotees donate all the urns full of cereals to the Brahmins.
Dol Gayaras Ekadashi
Jal Jhulni Ekadashi or Padma Ekadashi is known as Dol Gayaras in Rajasthan. Devotees worship Lord Ganapati on this day and establish the idol of Goddess Gauri. Goddess Gauri is another name for Goddess Parvati, the consort of Shiva. Also, the fairs are organized on this day. During this time, idols of all the deities of a temple are brought out near a water body, given bathe and then worshipped. Finally, these idols are placed back to their respective positions in the evening while following the ceremony of Shobha Yatra. At the time of Shobha Yatra, devotees sing devotional songs with a happy mood. They do whatever it takes to enchant the Almighty during the way in a joyous mood.
