But since Swarbhanu had tasted the Amrit, he did not die. Instead, his head was named Rahu, whereas his torso became Rahu. Hence, as a result of his vengeance, every year Rahu covers the Moon and the Sun and causes the phenomenon of Solar Eclipse.

Types of 2021 Solar Eclipse

• Total Solar Eclipse: When the Moon completely covers the surface of the Sun while forming a straight alignment with the Earth and the Sun, it is known as a Total Solar Eclipse.
• Partial Solar Eclipse: When the Moon partially covers the surface of the Sun, due to which the Sun is only half visible and its rays are partially prevented from reaching the Earth’s surface, it is called a Partial Solar Eclipse.
• Annular Solar Eclipse: An Annular Solar Eclipse is a phenomenon when the planet Moon only covers the Sun middle area and as a result, a ring-like shape is visible.

Solar Eclipse 2021: Occurrences, Dates & Timings

As we have already told you, the phenomenon of Solar Eclipse in 2021 is an astronomical event that occurs almost every year. Talking about the year 2021, Solar Eclipse occurs two times in a year:

1. The first Solar Eclipse 2021 takes place on 10 June 2021, which will be an Annular Solar Eclipse.
2. The second and next Solar Eclipse 2021 will take place at the end of the year 2021, i.e. on 4 December and will be a Total Solar Eclipse.

If we talk about the visibility of the first Solar Eclipse, it will be visible only in the Northern parts of North America, Europe, Asia, in North Canada, Greenland and Russia but not in India.

• The first Solar Eclipse in 2021 will be an Annular Solar Eclipse and occur on 10 June 2021, Thursday.
• As per the Hindu Panchang, the duration of this eclipse will begin from 13:42 afternoon till 18:41 in the evening.
• Also as per the Panchang, the first Solar Eclipse in 2021 will occur on the Amavasya in the Hindu month of Vaishakh during the Vikram Samvat 2078 and majorly impact the natives of Taurus zodiac sign and Mrigashira Nakshatra.
• Though not visible in India, it will be seen in the Northern parts of North America, Europe, Asia, in North Canada, Greenland and Russia.
• Since it is not visible in India, the Sutak Kaal will not be observed in the country.

• The second and last Solar Eclipse in 2021 will be a Total Solar Eclipse and occur on 04 December, 2021, Saturday.
• As per the Hindu Panchang and IST, the duration of this eclipse will begin from 10:59 in the morning till 15:07 in the afternoon.
• Also as per the Panchang, the second Solar Eclipse will occur on the Amavasya in the Hindu month of Kartik during the Vikram Samvat 2078 and majorly impact the natives of Scorpio zodiac sign and Anuradha and Jyeshta Nakshatra.
• It will be visible in Antarctica, South Africa, Southern regions of Atlantic, Australia, and South America.
• Since it is not visible in India, the Sutak Kaal will not be observed in the country.
