Samyak Smriti: It means that a person includes compassion, prudence, and caution in their every work. The four forms of commemoration are as follows – Kayanu Pashyana i.e. staying aware of the bodywork and consciousness, Vedanupashyana i.e. being aware of happiness & sorrow, Chitanupashyana i.e. identifying anger & hatred of the mind, and Dharmanupashyana i.e. understanding the efforts of body, mind, and speech.

On that day, devotees visit the graves of their ancestors and clean them up properly. They also offer flowers and other offerings on the grave. It is celebrated for 3 days and also believed that ancestors visit the home altars during the period.
