Jain Calendar 2023: The Major Festivals Of The Jain Religion
- Meru Trayodashi: The festival of Meru Trayodashi holds significant importance for the people of the Jain religion. It is celebrated in the Month of Paush in Krishna Paksha i.e. on the date of Trayodashi (13th). This festival is celebrated as their first Tirthankara Rishabnath attained emancipation (moksha).
- Beginning Of Falgun Ashtanika: This festival which comes in the list of Jain Calendar 2023 is very important. It is greatly celebrated for 8 continuous days with fervor and faith.
- End Of Falgun Ashtanika: Among the followers of the Jain religion, this day is considered to be very auspicious and considerable. So that's why the ending of this day is cardinal as well.
- Falgun Chaumasi Chaudas: According to the religion of Jainism, Chaumasi Chaudas is a duration of 4 months. This day is celebrated as their Tirthankara Lord Mahavir established one of the pillars of Jain religion, Non-violence (Ahimsa). The day of Chaumasi Chaudas radiates the pillar of Ahimsa all around the world.
- Mahavir Jayanti: This festival which comes in the list of Jain Calendar 2023 is one of the most significant ones. In 599 B.C, on this day, Vardhaman Mahavir was born. Around the whole world he is recognised by his name, Mahavir. He is the last Tirthankara out of the 24 Tirthankaras of the Jain Religion.
- Daslakshan Festival: Out of many significant festivals of the Jain religion, Daslakshan is one of them. It is also known as the Paryushan festival. This day is celebrated by both the sects of Jain religion; Shvetamabara and Digambara. The festival is celebrated continuously for 8 to 10 days. The Daslakshan represents these 10 values- Kshama, Mardava, Arnav, Satya, Sanyam, Shaucha, Tapasya, Renunciation, Akinchanya, and Brahmacharya.
- Beginning Of Oli: The festival of Oli, mentioned in the Jain Calendar 2023, comes twice annually and goes on for 9 days. According to the Jain Panchang, this festival comes in the month of Chaitra and Ashwin.
